You don't need prior research experience.
You do need curiosity, commitment, and respect for the research process. SPAN is open to motivated high school students who want to learn how research really works.
What to expect
No long essays. No problem sets. No fixed deadline.
Reviewed as mentors and projects become available.
Mentors may invite you to a 30-minute Zoom to explore fit.
Matching depends on mentor availability — it is not guaranteed.
What we ask in return
Because SPAN is free, we ask for only one thing in return: when your research experience ends, share your growth story with us. We do not ask where you were admitted to college or how the experience helped your application. We want to know how mentorship changed the way you think, how you learned to ask questions, and how you grew as a young researcher.

Ready to apply? Submit through our official form.
Applications are hosted on Google Forms so we can collect transcripts, test scores, and written reflections in one place. There is no fee, no deadline, and no minimum GPA. Please read through the form carefully before starting — the reflection prompts are meant to be answered thoughtfully, not quickly.
